A placed-crystal gown in navy, which photographs with more depth than black under evening light and reads less predictable in a room full of it. Crystal work is placed at the shoulder and waist and left off the skirt entirely, so the eye moves between two points rather than across a whole surface. The skirt falls plain and straight from the waist, which is what gives the placed work somewhere to register against. Floor length, no stretch, so the fit is cut. Made for galas, prom and formal receptions where placement matters more than coverage.

Our cut runs relaxed — if you're between sizes, take the smaller one

Most of our pieces are cut easy-fit rather than close-fitting, so the usual advice to size up doesn't apply here. If your measurements fall between two sizes, take the smaller one.

Swimwear is the exception — it's cut closer to the body, so for swimwear only, take the larger size.

These are general body measurement ranges used across the fashion industry, not measurements taken from our garments. Use them as a starting point.

Shoes

Shoe sizing varies by style. Most of our shoes show a US and EU pair — for example US 8 / EU 40. Some styles show a single number instead. If you're between sizes or unsure which system a style uses, email contact@thealif.com before ordering and we'll confirm.

How to measure

Bust — around the fullest part, tape level, arms relaxed.
Waist — the narrowest part, usually just above the navel.
Hips — the fullest part, roughly 20cm (8") below the waist.

Keep the tape snug but not tight, and measure over underwear rather than clothing.
