A maxi dress does something no other length can: it makes movement part of the outfit. This is our longest edit — floor-skimming silhouettes in satin, chiffon, jersey and knit, cut to fall cleanly from the shoulder or gather at the waist. Some are built for weddings and gala evenings; others are the easiest thing you'll wear all summer over flat sandals. Halter, strapless, one-shoulder and long-sleeve necklines are all here, so the shape can be as covered or as bare as the occasion asks. Our cut runs relaxed, so if you're between sizes take the smaller one. If you want the length without losing your stride, look for the styles with a split.
