A cinched lapel coat in grey — the most formal of the three, and the one that reads closest to tailoring when worn over trousers. A notch-lapel coat cinched at the waist, so it holds a defined shape instead of falling straight — that single detail is what separates it from a standard overcoat. The lapel sits wide enough to read as tailoring, and the length covers a midi hem. It works over a dress for an evening and over trousers for the day without adjustment. No stretch, so size for the layer underneath. Dry clean rather than washing, and hang it on a broad hanger to protect the shoulder.

Our cut runs relaxed — if you're between sizes, take the smaller one

Most of our pieces are cut easy-fit rather than close-fitting, so the usual advice to size up doesn't apply here. If your measurements fall between two sizes, take the smaller one.

Swimwear is the exception — it's cut closer to the body, so for swimwear only, take the larger size.

Shoes

Shoe sizing varies by style. Most of our shoes show a US and EU pair — for example US 8 / EU 40. Some styles show a single number instead. If you're between sizes or unsure which system a style uses, email contact@thealif.com before ordering and we'll confirm.

How to measure

Bust — around the fullest part, tape level, arms relaxed.
Waist — the narrowest part, usually just above the navel.
Hips — the fullest part, roughly 20cm (8") below the waist.

Keep the tape snug but not tight, and measure over underwear rather than clothing.
