A crystal-bodice gown in yellow, warm and unusual for a formal gown — at its best under natural light rather than after dark. Crystal covers the bodice densely and stops cleanly at the waist, so the dress divides into a worked upper half and a completely plain skirt — a graphic split rather than a gradual fade. The skirt falls straight and unadorned, which is what lets the bodice register. Floor length, no stretch. For galas and formal receptions where one strong element does more than embellishment spread thin across the whole.

Our cut runs relaxed — if you're between sizes, take the smaller one

Most of our pieces are cut easy-fit rather than close-fitting, so the usual advice to size up doesn't apply here. If your measurements fall between two sizes, take the smaller one.

Swimwear is the exception — it's cut closer to the body, so for swimwear only, take the larger size.

These are general body measurement ranges used across the fashion industry, not measurements taken from our garments. Use them as a starting point.

Shoes

Shoe sizing varies by style. Most of our shoes show a US and EU pair — for example US 8 / EU 40. Some styles show a single number instead. If you're between sizes or unsure which system a style uses, email contact@thealif.com before ordering and we'll confirm.

How to measure

Bust — around the fullest part, tape level, arms relaxed.
Waist — the narrowest part, usually just above the navel.
Hips — the fullest part, roughly 20cm (8") below the waist.

Keep the tape snug but not tight, and measure over underwear rather than clothing.
