Spiral-zip jeans in black, where the hardware is the only thing catching light against a flat ground. A zip spirals around the leg rather than running straight down it, which turns a closure into the design and changes the line of the whole trouser. Denim holds that construction — the fabric has enough body for a spiral seam to keep its shape instead of twisting flat. Cut close through the leg so the spiral stays visible. Denim moulds with wear, so if you are between sizes take the smaller one.

Our cut runs relaxed — if you're between sizes, take the smaller one

Most of our pieces are cut easy-fit rather than close-fitting, so the usual advice to size up doesn't apply here. If your measurements fall between two sizes, take the smaller one.

Swimwear is the exception — it's cut closer to the body, so for swimwear only, take the larger size.

Shoes

Shoe sizing varies by style. Most of our shoes show a US and EU pair — for example US 8 / EU 40. Some styles show a single number instead. If you're between sizes or unsure which system a style uses, email contact@thealif.com before ordering and we'll confirm.

How to measure

Bust — around the fullest part, tape level, arms relaxed.
Waist — the narrowest part, usually just above the navel.
Hips — the fullest part, roughly 20cm (8") below the waist.

Keep the tape snug but not tight, and measure over underwear rather than clothing.
