Straight sweatpants in black, the more formal of the two and the easier to wear out as they are. A straight leg rather than a taper is what separates these from gym kit — the line falls clean from hip to hem instead of narrowing, which reads closer to a trouser. The waist sits mid-rise with a drawcord. Comfortable enough for travel and tidy enough to wear out. Wash cool; they soften with washing rather than pilling.

Most of our pieces are cut easy-fit rather than close-fitting, so the usual advice to size up doesn't apply here. If your measurements fall between two sizes, take the smaller one.

Swimwear is the exception — it's cut closer to the body, so for swimwear only, take the larger size.

Shoes

Shoe sizing varies by style. Most of our shoes show a US and EU pair — for example US 8 / EU 40. Some styles show a single number instead. If you're between sizes or unsure which system a style uses, email contact@thealif.com before ordering and we'll confirm.

How to measure

Bust — around the fullest part, tape level, arms relaxed.
Waist — the narrowest part, usually just above the navel.
Hips — the fullest part, roughly 20cm (8") below the waist.

Keep the tape snug but not tight, and measure over underwear rather than clothing.
